We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization made of S.T.E.M. (science, technology, engineering, & mathematics) professionals dedicated to funding grassroots research and mentoring diverse future leaders. We aid in achieving a climate aware future through conducting and sharing research, engaging with local communities, diversifying the sciences, and providing opportunities for underrepresented groups. Our team cultivates interdisciplinary collaboration by creating a space for scientists to examine the world separate from self-interest groups and for-profit organizations. Climate Aware believes that all knowledge and information should be open-source, or free. Decentralizing S.T.E.M. is a fundamental tenet to mitigating the destructive nature of climate change.

A Changing Earth

Our planet is changing in unprecedented ways. The scale and reach of anthropogenic climate change poses a threat to every living thing on Earth, calling for a global initiative to create a sustainable future for all.

Sea Level Rise

Globally, sea levels are rising at an average rate of 3.3 mm (0.13 in) per year due to melting glaciers, ice sheets, and the thermal expansion of seawater as sea surface temperatures increase (NASA, 2019). Our oceans absorb more than 90% of the atmospheric heat produced by human activity (NOAA, 2019).

Carbon Dioxide

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a greenhouse gas that traps heat. CO2 levels within the atmosphere have been increasing primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels since the start of the industrial revolution. Global CO2 levels are currently increasing at a faster rate than the previous ~60 million years. Current atmospheric levels of COare just over 410 ppm (NASA, 2019).

Global Temperature

Global surface temperatures have increased by about 0.7–0.9° Celsius (1.3–1.6° Fahrenheit) per century since the turn of the 20th Century. The rate of warming has nearly doubled since 1975, with the 10 warmest years on record all occurring since 1998 (NOAA, 2019).

Decentralizing S.T.E.M.

Our goal is to provide scientists with direct access to, and full control of, research funding. Currently, many institutions and for-profit organizations retain a majority share of research funding to enhance their own agendas and resources. Climate Aware allows S.T.E.M. professionals to determine how funding should be utilized to meet their research needs. We realizes the full potential of expertise and use it to decentralize S.T.E.M.

Funding Opportunity.

Climate Aware patches the leaky pipeline by recruiting, training, and retaining the next generation of climate experts. We recognize the blatant and historic lack of diversity within S.T.E.M and seek underrepresented, economically disadvantaged, and marginalized groups to join our team. We award scholarships and mentor students to ensure their future success.
